June 2021 Baking Challenge
Welcome to Windy City Baker’s first ever MONTHLY BAKING CHALLENGE!
Over the years, I’ve gotten lots of emails and comments from readers saying they love the way recipes look and sound, but they could NEVER make the recipe themselves.
While I enjoy getting compliments about my baking, I especially love it when I hear from readers that they baked one of my recipes and thought it tasted amazing or they were surprised by how easy it was to make!
I’d love for this monthly challenge to be a space where people can push themselves to try something outside of their comfort zone, practice new baking skills, and make delicious baked goods from scratch. I truly believe that baking amazing tasting treats is something that EVERYBODY can do in the comfort of their own kitchen.
To help increase your motivation to try new recipes and techniques, I’m offering prizes for participating! All you have to do is make the recipe, take a picture, and send it to me in an email to be entered to win. Don’t worry about taking the perfect picture or whether the lighting is ideal. The goal of this challenge is baking, not photography.

Baking Challenge Details
- Check out the recipe: June’s Baking Challenge is Lemon Bars with a tart lemon curd and buttery shortbread crust. Get the recipe here. Alternative Baking Challenge: If Lemon Bars aren’t for you, you can choose any other recipe on Windy City Baker to make and you will still be qualified to win the prizes if you follow the steps below.
- Bake the recipe following the step-by-step recipe tutorial during the month of the challenge.
- Take a photo of your baked treat and send it in an email to me ([email protected]) to be entered into the challenge. This is required to win a prize.
- (Optional) Leave a comment on the challenge recipe page for a bonus entry.

Baking Challenge FAQ
How Does the Baking Challenge Work?
At the beginning of every month, I will publish a Baking Challenge recipe and a separate post with the new challenge instructions and an announcement of the winner from the previous month.
To enter the challenge, make the recipe at any point during the month and then share a photo of your bake with me via email. I will post your pictures on my blog to show off your amazing accomplishments.
At the end of the month, I will randomly select winners for the available prizes.
How Do I Enter the Baking Challenge?
After making the recipe, take a photo of your bake and share it with me via email at [email protected]. This is required to be entered into the challenge.
For a bonus entry, leave a review on the challenge recipe.
How Old Do You Have to Be to Participate?
While I encourage bakers of all ages to try these recipes, anyone under 18 should have adult supervision in the kitchen. Additionally, only individuals 18 and older will be qualified to win the prizes. The person/email account submitting the recipe photo should belong to an adult over the age of 18.
I Don’t Live in the USA. Can I Participate?
Anyone can participate.
How Is the Winner Chosen?
I will be keeping track of the entries and will randomly select 1 winner per prize at the end of the month. Don’t worry about taking the perfect photo. This is a baking challenge (not a photography challenge).
When Is the Winner Announced?
The Baking Challenge winner will be announced on the 1st of the month following the challenge (e.g., the June Baking Challenge winner will be announced on July 1st) and will be sent an email.
The winner must reply within 2 business days or a new winner will be chosen.
Is Participation in the Baking Challenge Required?
No. Participation is completely voluntary.
