July 2021 Baking Challenge
Baking Challenge Details
- Check out the recipe: Each month, I will publish a new challenge recipe on the first of the month. See July’s recipe below.
- Bake the recipe following the step-by-step recipe tutorial during the month of the challenge.
- Take a photo of your baked treat and send it in an email to me ([email protected]) to be entered into the challenge. This is required to win a prize.
- (Optional) Leave a comment on the challenge recipe page for a bonus entry.
July Recipe
July’s Baking Challenge Recipe is Cranberry Almond Cream Cheese Pound Cake. This cake is rich and moist with a delicious tang from the cream cheese. The flavors of almond extract and spiced rum-soaked dried cranberries add a fantastic addition! Feel free to change up the dried fruit in the recipe if cranberries aren’t your favorite. Apricots, blueberries, and cherries would all pair really nicely with almond extract. You can also replace the rum with water if you would prefer an alcohol-free cake.
Alternative Baking Challenge: If pound cake isn’t a recipe you would like to make, you can choose any other recipe from Windy City Baker. You will still be qualified to win the prizes if you follow challenge requirements (i.e., taking a photo and sending it to me in an email.).
Prizes for July’s Baking Challenge
Email a picture of this month’s challenge recipe by the end of the day on July 31st to be entered to win. The winners will be selected at random and posted in the August Baking Challenge blog post. This month’s prizes are below:
- $50 Amazon Gift Card
- One free Embakify course (a $30 value). Embakify is Windy City Baker’s baking academy with live and recorded courses.

June 2021 Baking Challenge: Lemon Bars
Thank you to everyone who participated by making a recipe, taking a photo, and writing a comment! I’ve included the emailed photo entries below. Multiple people made Lemon Bars and one person made Pecan Brownies (i.e., completed the alternative challenge). Everyone did such an amazing job and I can’t wait to see everyone’s pictures for July!

Baking Challenge FAQ
How Does the Baking Challenge Work?
At the beginning of every month, I will publish a Baking Challenge recipe and a separate post with the new challenge instructions and an announcement of the winner from the previous month.
To enter the challenge, make the recipe at any point during the month and then share a photo of your bake with me via email. I will post your pictures on my blog to show off your amazing accomplishments.
At the end of the month, I will randomly select winners for the available prizes.
How Do I Enter the Baking Challenge?
After making the recipe, take a photo of your bake and share it with me via email at [email protected]. This is required to be entered into the challenge.
For a bonus entry, leave a review on the challenge recipe.
I Don’t Live in the USA. Can I Participate?
Anyone can participate.
How Is the Winner Chosen?
I will be keeping track of the entries and will randomly select 1 winner per prize at the end of the month. Don’t worry about taking the perfect photo. This is a baking challenge (not a photography challenge).
When Is the Winner Announced?
The Baking Challenge winner will be announced on the 1st of the month following the challenge (e.g., the June Baking Challenge winner will be announced on July 1st) and will be sent an email.
The winner must reply within 2 business days or a new winner will be chosen.
Is Participation in the Baking Challenge Required?
No. Participation is completely voluntary.
