In-Person Classes

Class Time: 1:00PM – 3:30PM CDT

Get ready for a fun time of cake decorating! In this hands-on, in-person class, you’ll learn step-by-step how to decorate a festive Vintage Cake that is as beautiful as it is delicious. No experience is needed.

Whether you come with your partner, close friend, someone special, or just yourself (self-love is important too), this event is the perfect way to share quality time, get creative, and eat tasty treats.

This is the perfect class for anyone celebrating Valentine’s Day as we have a “2 for 1” ticket that allows for 2 people to decorate 1 cake. It’s the same amount of fun, without paying for 2 cakes!

RLM Studio, 4042 N Pulaski Rd, Chicago (Irving Park)

Note: This location is different than our bakery.  Windy City Baker is a home bakery/cottage food operation.  I have rented an event space for this class to have sufficient room for teaching.

What You Will Learn:

• Our favorite vanilla cake and frosting recipes
• Step-by-step instruction designed for beginners (but fun for all levels!)
• Tips and tricks to make cake decorating easier
• How to stack and crumb coat a cake
• How to achieve a smooth frosting finish
• Preparing and filling a piping bag
• Using various piping tips to create swirls, rosettes, shells, ruffles, and dots

More Information:

• Two ticket types are available. The normal ticket type is for each person to decorate one 6″ cake. The “2 for 1” ticket type is perfect for multiple people to work together to decorate a single cake.
• Each cake serves 9 – 1.5″x2″ cake slices.  The cake and frosting flavor is vanilla. It can be stored in the refrigerator for one week after it is assembled or up to 1 month in the freezer.
• Any children under age 16 MUST be accompanied by an adult.
• Classes are BYOB.  Sip on your favorite drink while learning a new skill!
• All tickets are final sale and non-refundable or transferable to another date.  If you are unable to attend after purchase, you may gift your ticket to a friend.
• Allergens and dietary restrictions: This class includes wheat, dairy, and eggs.  We do offer a gluten-free option.  Please note that foods are prepared in a kitchen that regularly uses most major allergens.
